WASHINGTON —

Regular listeners to WSB Radio, WDBO, WOKV Jacksonville, WHIO Radio or KRMG have noticed the absence of Jamie Dupree, a long-serving Washington, D.C., correspondent. Dupree lost his ability to communicate on the radio, and more importantly with his family, in the middle of 2016.

Dupree has a rare condition, tongue protrusion dystonia, which prevents him from stringing together multiple words.

Despite losing his ability to speak on the radio, Dupree continues to grind away every single day and many weekends to keep his audience up to date on the big issues in Washington.

At the station level, Dupree continues to write stories, send audio from local Representatives and Senators, and help provide clarity to stories given his more than 30-years of experience.

Dupree’s professionalism helps news teams deliver factual stories on multiple platforms: radio, web, and social.

On Monday, Dupree was recognized on the House Floor by Florida Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. Video of the honor can be seen below.

Jamie Dupree is a reporter for the Cox Media Group Washington News Bureau.
