A U.S. senator claimed on Thursday that the Environmental Protection Agency is “brainwashing” American children.

Sen. James Inhofe, R-Oklahoma, made the allegation on CNN’s “New Day” while discussing budget cuts proposed by the White House.

“We want to deliver the services, we’re going to make things clean, but we’re going to take all this stuff that comes out of the EPA that’s brainwashing our kids, that is propaganda, things that aren’t true, allegations,” he said.

The EPA is the federal agency hardest hit by proposed budget cuts presented Thursday by President Donald Trump’s administration, according to Reuters. The White House’s proposed budget includes a 31 percent cut in funding for the EPA, a move that would eliminate 3,200 jobs.

Inhofe, chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, has long criticized the evidence supporting global warming and climate change and has at least once before claimed that the EPA is brainwashing America’s youth.

“Our kids are being brainwashed,” Inhofe said last July during an appearance on “The Eric Metaxas Show.”

"I did some checking … and the stuff that they teach our kids nowadays, they are brainwashed -- you have to un-brainwash them when they get out," he said.

The GOP lawmaker threw a snowball on the Senate floor in February 2015 to question global warming.

“In case we have forgotten, because we keep hearing that 2014 has been the warmest year on record, I ask the chair, do you know what this is?” Inhofe said, according to The Hill. “It’s a snowball. And it’s just from outside here. So it’s very, very cold out. Very unseasonable.”
